How the Criminal Justice Journalists dramatically increased the deliverability
The Cops and Courts Reporters discussion list had some problems with spam filters because of their subject matter content. We knew that by far the best thing we could do to improve email deliverability, was to have the sending email address in the Address Book of their members. That is because many ISP's will bypass their spam filters for email that is from a known sender.
However, with a normal listserve, the email is from the individual that sent the message, and you would need to add all of your list members to everybody's Address Book. And with 500 list members, that just was not going to happen.
So we invented our exclusive "Dual Address From Line" option, so that the Criminal Justice Journalists only needed to add one email address to their AddressBook. Now each From Line has both the sender address and the list address on the From line.
Like this

Now the computers see the list name in the angle brackets, and that is the address everybody white-lists. Their members see the sender's name and/or email address in both the From line and the top line of the body of the message. So both computers and human beings are happy.
So if you want to increase the delivery rate of your emails, you just need to choose the "Dual Address From Line" option when you set up your list.
How the Florida Real Estate Attorneys gets MS Word, PDF's and other attachments into their subscriber's hands
The Florida Statewide Real Estate Attorneys E-Mail Discussion Forum discusses legal matters relating to real estate. And they frequently need to show the exact legal documents they are working with. However, when they included attachments with their emails, some of the members never received the email. Attachments are a common reason why email is stopped for being spam.
So we created a system that saves the attachment on our server, and puts a link to the attachment at the top of the email. It also notes the size of the attachment, so the lawyers can judge how long it will take to download. The links are blue and click-able when the small message arrives in the subscriber's inbox.

This link will be blue and click-able in the emails you send out.
We can do the same thing for your list, if you need to get Word documents, PDF's, spreadsheets, photos and other attachments safely into your subscribers hands.
How the Clinical Nurse Specialists build a knowledge base for both current and future members
The Clinical Nurse Specialists have over 1,000 members on their email discussion group, and send out 50 or more messages a day. And many of those emails provide critical cutting edge information on current nursing practices.
So in addition to the emails going directly to everybody's email inbox, they also use the web archive option, to catalog all that valuable information on the web. The web archives provides a search engine that just searches their emails, so information can easily be found.
When current members recall seeing a topic, they go to the search engine to find the exact information. They can search by keyword, by the author, or by date range.
When future members ask questions that have already been discussed, they are referred to the knowledge-base, instead of rehashing the same topic.

Why the Webwhispers dreaded the time around holidays
The Webwhispers are the largest support group for individual laryngectomee survivors of larynx and other throat cancers. And the holidays meant that many of their members would turn off their Internet access, and turn on their Vacation auto responders. So lots of Vacation / Out of Office replies would come streaming back, and right on out to their list.

So we invented a tool to recognize and delete those pesky "Out Of Office" messages from going to their list. And we also keep out messages from people asking to unsubscribe. And we won't allow any bounces messages to go to your list.
So if you want a low noise listserve, so people don't unsubscribe needlessly, then use mail-list®
How "Leadnet" reduced the pollution generated by people that top post
Leadnet is a listserve established to facilitate discussion of lead poisoning prevention among non-profit advocates and state and local government agencies.
Top Posting is when people reply to a message, and start typing their text at the top. Leaving the entire previous message below. In the Internet world, top posting is a crime, RIGHT UP THERE WITH TYPING IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.
However, most of Leadnet members use the Microsoft Outlook email reader, and its default setting is to insert the previous message into the reply, without any quoting, and position the cursor at the top of the message. So Internet newbies using MS Outlook, will Top Post and just think it is normal.
So we invented the Top Post Trim option, which will remove the bottom part of the reply, leaving just the first 20 lines of the previous message. So people know the context of the reply, but are not burdened with the entire previous message.
For example, somebody replies to a long message and just adds a "Me Too" type reply.

Our system will automatically leave the first 20 lines, and truncate the rest of the long original message.
So if members of your listserve are from the government or business world, or use Gmail, you too can use the Top Post Trim option and keep peace with the rest of your members that go bananas when they see Top Posting.
